Background: Diabetes type 1 is a chronic autoimmune disease that mainly affects children and adolescents, characterized by the body’s inability to produce insulin. Managing this lifelong condition requires continuous treatment and self-care. Living with a chronic illness during ad-olescence can lead to mental illness and social challenges. Research shows that adolescents with type 1 diabetes are at higher risk of stress, anxiety, and depression, emphasizing the need for person-centered and psychological nursing support. Aim: The purpose of this study was to illuminate how young people experience living with type 1 diabetes. Method: An integrative compilation of qualitative research inspired by metasynthesis was conducted. Systematic searches were performed in CINAHL and PubMed; ten qualitative arti-cles were analyzed to build the study's findings. Peer-reviewed articles published within the last ten years were analyzed. Results: Three main themes emerged: Feelings in everyday life with diabetes type 1; To receive help with diabetes type 1; Lack of knowledge about diabetes type 1. Adolescents empha-sized the importance of supportive healthcare relationships and psychological attention, ex-pressing experiences of stress and other negative feelings related to disease management, alongside increasing autonomy in self-care. Conclusion: Adolescents living with type 1 diabetes experience psychological and social chal-lenges that affect their daily lives and mental health. The study highlights the importance of youth-centered and person-centered care that integrates psychological support, promotes participation and independence, and ensures continuity to strengthen overall well-being and self-management.
