User perspective on the feminization and homogeneity at Linnaeus University Library : Survey study

This master's thesis investigates the impact of a predominantly female and homogeneous workforce within Linnaeus University Library on students’ perceptions and usage patterns. Through a mixed-methods approach, including a questionnaire survey administered via Google Forms, the study explores students’ perspectives on librarians at Linnaeus University. Drawing upon symbolic interactionism and phenomenology as a theoretical framework, the research reveals the influence of librarian demographics on students’ interactions and experiences within the library environment. Findings highlight the significance of diversity among library staff in fostering inclusivity and enhancing students' sense of belonging. The study contributes to understanding the complexities of gender dynamics and diversity in academic libraries, particularly in Sweden.
