Artificial Intelligence is becoming an essential part of education, making it crucial for schools to teach students how to use this technology responsibly and equitably. This study highlights that schools have yet to fully adapt their methods to integrate AI in a fair manner, which risks creating inequalities among students. While artificial intelligence can enhance learning experiences, a lack of structured implementation may result in students with strong digital skills gaining significant advantage over their classmates. Furthermore, differences are evident not only among students but also between schools, emphasizing the need for a united strategy in education policies. Ensuring digital competence from an early age is essential for academic success and future career opportunities in an increasingly digitized world. Since schools have a compensatory role in leveling the playing field for students from diverse backgrounds, AI should be used in an inclusive way rather than deepening existing inequalities. To address these challenges, an AI strategy for schools is needed. The curriculum should include clear guidelines on artificial intelligence use and teachers training should be prioritized. By providing equal access to AI tools and ensuring educators are well-prepared, schools can better fulfill their mission of offering all students the same opportunities to thrive in a digital society.
