Sammanfattning

This thesis analysed how simple forecasting methods could be used to improve inventory control in a Swedish e-commerce company. The study was based on historical sales data and lead time data, where several forecasting methods were compared based on forecast accuracy. The results showed that simpler forecasting methods often performed as well as or better than more advanced models. Based on the selected forecasts, safety stock and reorder points were determined for different service levels in a simulated reorder point system. The simulations showed improved fill rate, fewer stockout situations and lower lost sales compared with the company’s current inventory control method.
