Från Data till Drift: AI som Drivkraft för Energieffektiva Fastigheter

Sammanfattning

The rise of digitalization has opened new opportunities to improve energy efficiency in buildings through the application of artificial intelligence (AI). This study aims to explore how AI is utilized for energy optimization within the Swedish real estate sector, as well as to identify the technological, organizational, and institutional challenges involved in its implementation. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with property owners and technology providers to gather insights from early adopters of AI systems. The findings show that AI, particularly in the form of smart control and predictive maintenance, can lead to substantial energy savings and enhanced operational efficiency. However, successful implementation depends heavily on high data quality, robust technical infrastructure, and internal competence. External factors such as legislation, sustainability demands, and industry standards also play a significant role. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how AI’s potential is realized in practice and highlights the importance of a holistic perspective where technology, organizational readiness, and external pressures work together to enable sustainable energy transitions in the building sector.
