I vägskälet mellan mörker och möjligheter : En kvalitativ studie om hopp och framtidssyn hos SiS-placerade ungdomar

This study explores hope and future aspirations among youths placed in secure residential care (SiS). The aim is to examine how these youth express thoughts about their future and factors that appear important for their sense of hope and possibilities for change. The study is based on a qualitative thematic analysis of narratives from the SiS book series ”SiS unga berättar” where youths who are or have been placed in a SiS institution are invited to share their personal experiences. The findings indicate that while some youths express ambivalent or negative thoughts about their future, many also express a positive outlook on life. Several factors appearing to impact their sense of hope both positively and negatively were identified, including religion, social relationships, self-image and previous life experiences. The results suggest that hope is affected by both internal and external factors and play a key-role in youths perceived opportunities for change.
