Sammanfattning

The Plymouth Brethren is a Christian community. The community was divided into one exclusive group and one open. The Plymouth Brethren in Sweden is part of the exclusive group, and they founded a school in 2007. This school, today called OneSchool Campus Nyby before the Labora School, has been criticized in media, which has led to multiple inspections by the Swedish School Inspectorate. The aim with this thesis is to map how the reoccurring shortcomings that the Swedish School Inspectorate says that the school has relates to the Plymouth Brethren’s values. The aim led to three questions; could the shortcomings be connected to values, how could these values be connected to the Plymouth Brethren’s ideology and how can the inspection reports be understood by the concept community and individual liberty through Bauman’s theory. The thesis has used the theory Content Analysis to categorize and structure the Swedish School Inspectorate’s reports. The conclusions are that several shortcomings could be grounded in Plymouth Brethren’s values and that most of them are connected to their view on gender roles and their wish of living separated from the society. The shortcomings could be understood through Bauman's community concept, but the regulations that the Swedish School Inspectorate points out could be understood through Bauman’s concept individual freedom.
