Sammanfattning

Remote work is an important theme in entrepreneurial and organizational research. The purpose of the research is to discover how large organizations perceive and manage the relationship between remote work and employee productivity. Purposely, the research aims to identify the managerial practices, organizational procedures, and perceptions that impact productivity in large-scale corporations. The study is based on theories of Human Resource Management (HRM) and Motivation, especially by applying the High-performance Work Systems (HPWS) framework, the Ability-Motivation-Opportunity (AMO) theory, Herzberg´s Two-Factor Theory, and Maslow´s Hierarchy of Needs. The research follows a qualitative methodology, using semi-structured interviews and a thematic analysis to reach deeper insights from employees within two large and global organizations. The findings indicate a complex relationship between the variables, where productivity is perceived as subjective and influenced by trust. Although remote work enhances deeper focus for certain tasks, it is viewed as a risk to team synergy. Organizations may use the findings of the study to transition from command-and-control models, balancing individual autonomy with employees’ social needs.
